At the encouragement of some friends I have decided to start a Blog. Not exactly sure what I am doing...but I will figure it out as I go. So please have patience with me.
Recently, I've been buying Garage Sale Furniture or looking on all these great online "Garage Sale" sites for inexpensive or free items that I can fix up. The first Item I am going to show you is a $50 Garage Sale Find. This patio table had loose boards on the chairs, covered in Spider webs and needed some boards on the table fixed. The table it self seems sturdy but the chairs needed some love. It also came with some groovy chair pads that were stained and had cigarette burns on a few of them. The originally asking price was $75 for the set, but I was able to get it for $50.
The next challenge was going to be fitting the table and 6 captains chairs in my SUV. I removed the legs of the table and by doing this I managed to fit 5 chairs in the back of my GMC Acadia and one chair in the front seat.
Once I got it home and had a chance to take a really good look at it I started sanding it down. It was a beautiful set at one time and my goal was to bring it back to it's original glory.
I started by painting the table a light green color and accented it with the White Captains chairs.
The chairs would not fit under the table, and this really annoyed me. I decided to go to my local home improvement store and buy some wood feet that were pre-drilled with a screw in them. I just drilled pilot holes on the bottom of the table legs and screwed in the feet and was able to raise the table just enough to fit the chairs under perfectly.
So there you have it. My first blog on a piece of garage sale furniture. I am currently working an a very cool patio glider that I found on Craigslist for FREE! It is very rusty and has a broken board but I am up for the challenge.
